“When Epic Voyage suggested my coming over to Malaysia, I was immediately intrigued. I have heard much about this fascinating country and its people and for one who is constantly looking to understand new cultures the idea fascinated me. When they further suggested that I held a Masterclass in Tanjung Rhu Langkawi, I couldn’t have asked for a better venue to start my experience of Malaysia,” said Barker.
“There is much I would like to share at the Workshops. For instance, in photojournalism, you can tell a story and show people and take them there somewhat. It is about taking photographs that can move people and make them see something. There is power in imagery,” said Barker.
On Portraiture, Barker says, “The most inspiring iconic photograph is ultimately photographs of real people and real lives. It is their lives that really move you, not necessarily their faces. When I think about my favourite pictures, it was never because the person in the photograph was pretty or good looking but because the person was a good person.”
“Nigel Barker’s innate humanitarian values and benevolence were the very values prompted Epic Voyage to invite him to this part of the world,” said Lee Adelaine, CEO of Epic Voyage.

Epic Voyage as a company, holds to the philosophy that life has to be balanced. The Company believes that while one seeks to achieve goals and pursue things one enjoys, one also needs to cherish, perpetuate and nurture values that add up to a wholesome society.
“We believe in bringing to society experiences that will enrich their lives in more ways than one. Like Nigel, we too aspire to touch hearts and make a difference,” added Lee.
“Epic Voyage identifies with many values that Nigel Barker holds as a professional and as an individual. As a photographer, Nigel’s works are world acclaimed but more significantly, he embraces values that endear him to people. Nigel is a more than just an artist, indeed, more than just a celebrity. His works have moved hearts and made a difference. That was most evident in his Haiti sojourn and in his work with the Humane Society of the United States for their Protect Seals campaign,” said Lee.
